How do I claim my ownership of a stock?

Earlier there used to be something called a Stock Certificate. Now no paper certificates are issued. 

In the age of computers, it’s totally electronic. Hence, when you’ll log onto your account, you can see your stock list – known as the My Portfolio. It has a list of the stocks you own along with your purchase price, current price, and the number of shares you own, just like in the table below:
